Winter Support for Rohingya and Vulnerable Host Population in Bangladesh

Project Summary:

The Rohingya refugee population and the host community in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar, struggle during the harsh winters, where many lack proper clothing to shield themselves from the cold. This increases the risk of respiratory infections, fevers, and other health issues, especially among children and the elderly.

The project will address the urgent need for winter clothing among vulnerable populations, particularly the Rohingya and host communities in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar. The project will mitigate the health risks associated with cold weather, such as respiratory infections and skin diseases.

Project Outputs:

Beneficiaries: 1200 people; 300 families

More than half are women and girls, living in constant vulnerability. And the crisis affects over 18 million people in Myanmar, including both refugees and local communities, who are all in dire need of urgent aid.

The camps become even more uninhabitable during the monsoon season, from April to November, where heavy rains flood shelters and worsen the already dire living conditions. While negotiations between Myanmar and Bangladesh have continued, the Rohingya children still lack access to education, and parents are denied the opportunity to work and provide for their families. Their future remains uncertain.
